About Justin M. Follmer, MBA, CFP®, AIF®
As the founder of Coastal Wealth Advisors, Justin has been working with unique clients for close to 18 years by helping them pursue answers to, and strategies through, some of life’s most difficult questions and challenging moments. His clients include high-net worth families and individuals, charitable organizations, entrepreneurs, and privately held small-businesses.Before building Coastal Wealth Advisors, he devoted valuable time to academic studies and hands-on experience with financial firms of various sizes and specialties. During his college years, he earned the title of United States Marine. His time with the Marine Corps proved to be indispensable to the business.
Marines abide by a set of core values that define how they live their lives. These core values of Honor, Courage, and Commitment are integrated into every facet of his client relationships, business processes, and ethical standards. He holds the belief that values are not mere words but rather demonstrated through our actions every moment of the day, and they shine most authentically when upheld even when no one is watching.
His academic education includes a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Finance and Managerial Economics from Lycoming College as well as an MBA from The Citadel Graduate College.
He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner and holds the Accredited Investment Fiduciary® designation which signifies specialized knowledge of fiduciary responsibility and the ability to implement policies and procedures that meet a defined standard of care. He believes that clients should look to hire a financial firm that maintains an ongoing commitment to process improvement, academic research, professional education, and fiduciary-first responsibility. To further promote these standards, He was recently elected to the Board of Directors of the South Carolina Financial Planning Association.
Justin enjoys spending his spare time pushing the limits at the gym, sipping a good tequila, collecting timepieces, trekking through the terrain of a mountain trail, traveling with his wife and friends, and taking cruises in Brenda: his prized, numbers matching, 1970 Chevelle SS classic car.

About Coastal Wealth Advisors
Coastal Wealth Advisors is a Charleston-based, South Carolina registered investment advisor who provides investment advice to families, small businesses, high net-worth individuals, and charitable organizations. Providing sound investment advice and tailored financial plans remain the cornerstone of their business. You view and approach money differently than your friends and family. You budget a certain way, invest a certain way, and spend a certain way. Wouldn’t it be refreshing to have a financial planner and investment advisor who understands and supports your unique desire to approach money the way you see fit?
Coastal Wealth Advisors was built with the goal to understand your personal financial situation, appetite for risk, and what you want your portfolio to accomplish before its advisors make any investment advice recommendations. As fiduciaries, they are legally required to make investment advice recommendations that are in your best interests, regardless of their own. This means they strive to create portfolios that are evidence based, low-cost, efficient, tax-managed when appropriate, and fit your long-term financial goals. Guided by this perspective, their approach looks to academic research to gain insight into dimensions that drive higher expected returns, then integrates this knowledge into strategies designed and implemented to add value to your portfolio needs and financial lifestyle.
They offer Personal Financial Planning and Business Financial Planning for a flat-fee. Hourly consultations, if appropriate, are available for limited-scope planning. In addition, they design, implement, and manage customized investment portfolios on a percentage of assets under management basis.

They work with clients in a dozen different states through a combination of face-to-face and virtual consultations. They'll also happily come to you. Or better yet, go visit them and then hit the local beaches; think of it as a vacation for you and your finances.

Wealthtender® is a trusted, independent financial directory and educational resource governed by our strict Editorial Policy, Integrity Standards, and Terms of Use. While we receive compensation from featured professionals (a natural conflict of interest), we always operate with integrity and transparency to earn your trust. We Want Your Voice to be Heard
Wealthtender exists to help people discover trusted and authentic financial professionals and educators who may be a good fit based on their unique needs and circumstances.
Your honest reviews help people decide which financial professionals and educators may be best suited to their individual needs.
The majority of people trust reviews as much as personal recommendations, so what you write in your review should reflect your own opinion and experience.
Tips for Writing a Helpful Review
Be descriptive. Instead of just saying what you like or dislike, share why. What have you enjoyed most or least about your experience with the provider? Have they helped you overcome a difficult financial challenge or strengthened your knowledge about particular money matters? The more details, the better!
Be honest. Your rating and review should reflect your actual experience.
Stay relevant. Ensure your review is helpful to others by avoiding off-topic discussions or personal opinions not relevant to your direct experience.
Make your review easy to read. Reviews should be readable to others. Use proper grammar, avoid excessive capitalization or punctuation, and be sure to check your spelling.
Be yourself. Don’t post as, or pretend to be, someone else, and do not say you’re associated with a person or organization with which you are not.
Be nice. Don’t write abusive, hateful, threatening, or harassing content. Avoid personal threats, hate speech, obscenities, or inflammatory language.
Respect the privacy of others. Don’t post information that can be used to identify another individual or compromise their privacy.
Report abuse. Thank you for helping us ensure reviews on Wealthtender are helpful to everyone. If you suspect possible violations of our guidelines or believe a review is inappropriate, please email [email protected] with a link to the provider’s profile, indicating the review in question and the reason you believe it violates our guidelines.
